PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Hemlock View Golf Course held its annual Club Championships last weekend, crowning champions in three different divisions: Men's, women's and seniors'.

Forty-eight club members competed over the weekend despite the warm temperatures and incredibly high humidity.

In the men's division, there were four separate "flights." Which flight a competitor plays in is determined by that particular player's handicap.

In the championship flight, reigning club champion Chris Deitz held on to a one-stroke lead over Earl Campbell late in the tournament to earn his second consecutive title.

"I was grinding it out all day long, and I am worn out," the lefty said after sinking a par putt on the last hole to finalize the win.

Campbell finished runner- up in the championship flight, and Ken Snyder took third.

A new ladies club champion was crowned, with the championship flight being the only division for the women.

Sandy Snyder defeated last year's club champion, Sandy Lindermuth, by two strokes to wrap up the championship, and Lesa Hankinson finished third in the women's divison.

The Senior Divison also had four flights, with Dave Fye leading the way in the championship flight to be crowned the club's first-ever senior champion.

Fye shot an even-par 35 on his final nine holes to hold off runner-up Rick Caylor and third-place finisher Howard Ott.

In the first flight of the men's division, James Carpenter was crowned champion, with Bob Harmon taking second place and Jim Lindermuth taking third.

In the second flight, Jeff Lindermuth took home the title over Jeff Cameron and Bill Hepfner.

In the third flight, Randy Miller was champion. Jason Barenchik was runner-up, and Ryan States finished third.

In the senior's first flight, Dave Johnson took home the trophy, with Tom Piszker coming in as runner-up and Frank Sady finishing third.

In the second flight, Bill Ferko took first place, with Earle Good and Clair Cameron finishing second and third, respectively.

In the third flight, Ed Serge was named champion after holding off Frank Rend and Bob Forrest.
