Helen Louise Himes, 97

Helen Louise Himes slipped away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at King Community Hospital in Kane.

She was 97 years old. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be remembered for her love of life, beautiful "posies," fantastic cooking, story-telling, infectious laugh and generous loving heart.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Himes.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coolspring.

She loved deer hunting, fishing and her flowers.

She is survived by one son, Floyd “Bus” Himes and wife Rita of Punxsutawney; one daughter, Carolyn King and husband Ronald of Smethport; five grandchildren, Eric King, Patrick King, Rebecca Hacker, Douglas Himes and Beth Todd; and eight great-grandchildren, Kevin and Jeremy King, Erynn and Bryan Hacker, Jasmin, Ariel and Bella Himes and Alexander Todd.

Friends will be received from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Dave Stonbraker officiating.

Private interment will follow at Coolspring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mrs. Himes’ name to the Oliver Township Volunteer Fire Department at 184 Bodenhorn Rd., Coolspring, PA 15730.

Helen wishes to thank and recognize the members of the fire department for all of the help provided by them.
