Hazel M. Smith, 89, formerly of Hamilton, died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at AM/PM Personal Care Home, DeLancey.

She was born March 12, 1922, in Coolspring, a daughter of the late Lucas S. and Alma H. (Wonderling) Hall.

Nov. 17, 1939, she married Dwight S. Smith, who preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1994.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Larry (Bud) Smith of Rock Hill, S.C., Alan Smith and wife Lynn, and Edward Smith and wife Mary Ann, all of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Karen Woodrow and husband Dennis of Punxsutawney; a brother, Allen Hall and wife Pat of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; a sister, Eleanor Reitz and husband Ronald of Mercer; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Smith; two sisters, Martha Smith and Gloria Kessler; two grandsons, Mark Smith and Larry Smith; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Smith.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Young officiating.

Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

The family suggests that because of Mrs. Smith's great love of dogs, memorial contributions to the Gateway Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
