Hazel Helene Minnick, 91

Hazel Helene Minnick, 91, of Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Punxsutawney, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers.

She was born April 20, 1919, in Harmony, one of 11 children of Thomas and Violet (Beatty) Young Sr.  

She was married to Edward James Minnick Sr., who preceded her in death in 1999.

Mrs. Minnick lived in Punxsutawney for 40 years prior to moving to State College for about 10 years, and then settled in southwest Florida.

She and her husband worked together for 30 years in a family-owned roof coating business.  She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fort Myers.

Surviving relatives include her children, Edward James Minnick Jr. and Larry Minnick of Fort Myers, Sondra Buffington of Kittanning, Betsy Getch of Dahlonega, Ga., and Loretta Roy of Punxsutawney; a brother, Richard Young of Halifax; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Paul Minnick, in 2008.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Gladiolus Congregation, 10850 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.  

Mrs. Minnick died looking forward to the promise of John 5: 28-29 and thereafter life as described in the 37th Psalm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be sent to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers Fla. 33908.
