Harry F. Kunselman, 86

Harry F. Kunselman, 86, Reynoldsville, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born July 24, 1924, in Pinecreek Township, a son of the late George F. Kunselman and Lottye C. (Kroh) Kunselman.

Sept. 5, 1947, he married Ruth A. (Sprague) Kunselman, who preceded him in death Nov. 27, 2010.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 40th Tank Battalion, 7th Armored Division, under General George Patton.

He received the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Victory World War II Medal and Juin 1944 Liberte Medal.

He attended Brookville High School.

Mr. Kunselman was an Honorary Life Member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 519 in Reynoldsville, in addition to Post Trustee and ‘Elk of the Year’ in both 1988 and 1993.

He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 392; Olympic Club, DuBois; and I.P.&S Club, DuBois.

Reynoldsville ‘Citizen of the Year’ in both 1972 and 1990, Mr. Kunselman was a board member of the Reynoldsville Recreation Association, Reynoldsville Recreation Commission, Reynoldsville Water Authority and Reynoldsville Borough Council.

An active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he was also an awesome dad.

He was employed by Deemer Gas Co., Brookville, for many years. He also worked for Kewanee Oil Co., So-Cal, Gulf Oil, and retired from Chevron Oil Co. in 1986. He also worked for Car-Lon Oil Co. and retired in Aug. 2010.

Surviving relatives include a son, Harry E. Kunselman and wife Heidi of Reynoldsville; two daughters, Laurie Sliwinski and husband Thomas J. of Reynoldsville, and Cheryl LaBue and husband Brad A. of DuBois; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, A. Kenneth and George H. Kunselman; and five sisters, L. Agness Milliron, Ruth K. Snyder, Parma N. Conrad, Lois V. Ohls and Mary K. Goble.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home, Reynoldsville.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Spence officiating.

Military Honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

BPO Elks Lodge No. 519 will conduct services at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Lakelawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 329 Jackson St., Reynoldsville, Pa., and BPO Elks Lodge No. 519, P.O. Box 87, Reynoldsville.
