ROSSITER — It was Feb. 14 — a day like any other day this winter, with gray skies, slippery roads and a couple of feet of snow already on the ground.

For Melissa Leseman, it was typical day that wasn't going to end in the typical way, as she was planning to take a short jaunt into town so her son could get a haircut.

That's the last thing she remembers before waking up in Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville after being flown there by a Lifeflight Helicopter from the Rossiter Ball Field, which was under nearly two feet of snow.

Melissa doesn't recall driving down the 50-foot embankment on Domb Hill Road.

To help the family with its many expenses, there will be a benefit ham dinner at noon on Sunday in the fellowship hall at the First Church of God in Punxsutawney, located on Skyview Drive in Young Township, to try to lessen some of the burden they have to endure during Melissa's recovery and further surgeries.

Read a detailed account of Leseman's recovery in Saturday's edition of The Spirit.
