H. Paul Hoover, 82

H. Paul Hoover, 82, Valier, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on Jan.1, 1930, in Loop, Pa., a son of the late Russell and Vera (Fireman) Hoover.

He was the last remaining member of his family.

On July 28, 1956, he married Mary Emma (Braunns) Hoover, who survives.

He was a member of the Valier United Methodist Church and attended the Men’s Breakfasts.

He served in the United States

Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

He worked for PennDOT for 28 years as an equipment operator and retired from there in 1990.

He was a member of the Groundhog Campers and enjoyed being a bee keeper, camping and traveling. He was an avid baseball player and an avid hunter in his younger days.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Ronald Hoover and wife Cindy of Indiana, Pa. and Bruce Hoover of Valier, Pa.; two grandchildren, Melissa Hoover and Vanessa Laurnoff and husband Robert; three great-grandchildren, Camden and Savannah Laurnoff and Dakota Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hoover; a brother, Charles Ray Hoover; an infant brother; a sister, Letha G. Leonard; and a sister, Martha Smith.

Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and also from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Young officiating.

Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Hoover, to the Valier United Methodist Church, the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
