GROUNDHOG DAY — IT’S NOW A MUSICAL!

If you’re from Punxsutawney, chances have it that you’ve seen the film about the arrogant weatherman who wakes up every morning to the tune of Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You, Babe" — living through Feb. 2 over and over again.

Nearly 23-and-a-half years after the release of the 1993 hit film Groundhog Day, the story has found new life. This time around, though, it's on stage — at The Old Vic in London, that is, and on Broadway in 2017 — in the form of a musical comedy.

Punxsutawney Phil's faithful followers, or at least those who attend the annual Groundhog Banquet at the Punxsutawney Area High School, may recall when Groundhog Day screenwriter Danny Rubin announced the musical in 2015.
