Groundhog Ball planned for Jan. 26

January 17, 2013

PUNXSUTAWNEY — It’s that time of year again — time for Phil to put on his tuxedo, top hat and dancing shoes for the Inner Circle’s Groundhog Ball, which will be held Jan. 26 at the Punxsutawney Country Club.

Doors open for the event at 8:30 p.m., and the music will fill the air from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

This year’s entertainer — Rudy and the Professionals — played the event last year and provided “a fabulous show with all types of musical selections,” said Katie Donald, executive director of the Groundhog Club.

The band is a six-piece, high-energy band specializing in a vast variety of musical styles from Motown and R&B to Caribbean, Oldies, Top 40s and dance music.

Rudy and the Professionals has opened for many groups including, but not limited to, Earth, Wind and Fire; Lee Greenwood; The Platters, and Kool & the Gang.

The band members have graced such venues as Universal Studios and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for this formal event are by pre-sale only and cost $30 each.

They are available at the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, 102 West Mahoning St., and online at www.groundhog.org.

Hors d’oeuvres are included, and a cash bar is available.

“I am looking forward to this event,” Donald said. “Everyone had a wonderful time last year, and it was a great opportunity to meet visitors from out of town, as well as members of the Punxsutawney community.”
