Goldie (Ryen) Pardee, 94

Goldie (Ryen) Pardee, 94, of Rochester Mills, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Allen I. and Amanda M. (Potts) Ryen, she was born on Nov. 26, 1918, in Rochester Mills.

During World War II, Goldie worked at Aircraft in Ohio in what she described as a “Rosie the Riveter” job.

She was a member of the Rochester Mills United Methodist Church.
Goldie was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge and the former Homemakers Club, both organizations having been located in Rochester Mills.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo. One of Goldie’s favorite ways to spend her time was being with her great-grandchildren. She absolutely loved playing with her great-grandchildren whenever the opportunity arose.

On June 19, 1943, Goldie married her husband, Arthur N. Pardee, and they shared almost 69 years of marriage together until he passed away on Feb. 17, 2012.

Goldie is survived by her three children, Phyllis Pardee of Indiana, Pa., Sharon Burns and husband Ed of Marion Center and Dick Pardee and wife Denise of Rochester Mills; her five grandchildren, Lisa Kromer, Brian Burns and wife Stephanie, Kelly McCurdy and husband Rick, Amy Cook and husband Eric and Angela Schultz and husband Jason; and her eight great-grandchildren, Chase Kromer, Landon and Adelyn Cook, Kinley McCurdy, Luke Burns, and Charlotte, Evelyn and Lucia Schultz. She is also survived by two brothers, Eugene Ryen and wife Sis and Ken Ryen and wife Vera, all of Rochester Mills; and her good friend, Arlene Zbur.

In addition to her parents and husband, Goldie was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Knappenberger; six brothers, Rex, Irvin, Roy, Jim, Bud and Blaine Ryen; and three sisters, Joyce Simpson, Shirley Ryen and Rose Gorman.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, Pa., where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013. Pastor Greg Golden will officiate. Interment will be at the Pine Grove
Cemetery, Rochester Mills.
