As Easter quickly approaches, the PRIDE organization is gearing up for the Easter egg promotion event to be held downtown.

Downtown merchants will be distributing plastic Easter eggs, which will contain a coupon for that business.

The promotion kicks off March 18 and will run through March 30.

PRIDE is encouraging merchants to have their own local promotions in hopes of boosting sales and bringing in potential shoppers.

The Weather Discovery Center will be selling chances to win a basket of chocolate Easter eggs, which were donated by Jack Lingenfelter, member of the Board of Directors of the Weather Center.

Participating merchants will have an Easter egg promotion flyer in their windows.

The Easter Bunny will also be hopping through the downtown area to greet passersby and area shoppers.
