PUNXSUTAWNEY — There is a place outside of town where animals that are unwanted, unloved or disabled are welcome to live. That place is the Godot Animal Sanctuary, and today, the sanctuary will be accepting an award from the Tri-County Animal Rescue Center.
The sanctuary was started 22 years ago by Lana Laughbaum, who, after years of working and living in New York City, felt a calling to help animals.
Laughbaum lives right on the property, where she purchased what started out as an old farm and turned it into a sanctuary.
The 160 acres of land have come in handy, as the sanctuary proudly houses a variety of animals, including cats, dogs, horses, cows, llamas, rabbits, geese, chickens and even some wildlife.
