Glenn Edwin Behrendt, 88

Glenn Edwin Behrendt, 88, Punxsutawney (Fordham), died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 13, 1923, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Morgan) Behrendt.

For 67 years, he was married to Margaree (Jackie) Webb Behrendt, who survives.

Mr. Behrendt was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was retired as a welder and mechanic for heavy equipment. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and golfer, and a member of John W. Jenks Masonic Lodge No. 534 and a life member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Mr. Behrendt cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two sons, Thomas Behrendt of New York, and William Behrendt and wife Linda of Smicksburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Harlan, Earl, Everett and James Behrendt; and four sisters, Fannie Jarcenko, Florence Morrell, Alice Bish and Edith Maganell.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Spencer officiating.

Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
