Glenn E. “Buzz” Powell, 82

Glenn E. “Buzz” Powell, 82, Brookville, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at the McKinley Health Center, Brookville.

He was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Ringgold, a son of the late William G. and Arveta M. (Snyder) Powell.

March 9, 1952, he married Charlotte M. (Smith), who preceded him in death Feb. 22, 2001.

Mr. Powell served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was the owner and operator of Powell’s Garage & Rebuilds in Roseville and enjoyed sprint car racing.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Sandra Himes and husband Mike of Greenville, Texas, and Teresa Haines and husband Kevin of Corsica; two sons, Roger G. Powell and Robert K. Powell, both of Brookville; 10 grandchildren, Heidi and husband Dustin, Joe and wife Tammie, Craig and wife Tammy, Jamie and husband Jerry, Kelby, Robert and wife Kristi, Jason and wife Amber, Jacob, Kyle and Drew; 10 great-grandchildren; Chandler, Dayton, Savannah, Colby, Halle, Laney, Logan, Megan, Natalie and Ava; and four brothers, Harold “Hud” Powell and wife Janet of Summerville, Blair Powell and wife Bev of New Bethlehem, Allen Powell and wife Lorraine of Brookville and Leon Powell of Ringgold.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor James Dietrich officiating.

Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post 354 American Legion of New Bethlehem will honor its fallen comrade.

Interment will be in the Roseville Bethel Cemetery, Union Township.
