Gladys Catherine Chesley, 89, of Punxsutawney, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Mulberry Square.

Mrs. Chesley was born March 14, 1924, in Marchand, a daughter of the late Paul Luther and Anna Margaret (Henry) Brewer.

She was a member of the Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Gladys had previously worked at Rola Jensen, Murdock's and the Drive In.

She was kind-hearted and enjoyed raising her five children.

She was a huge country music fan.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Anna Mae (Ron) Sheriff of DuBois, Linda (Jerry) Noerr of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Janice (Rick) Cappella of Latrobe; two sons, James A. (Joyce) Chesley ofReynoldsville,
and Richard (Barbara) Chesley of Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Rick Heitzenrater, Ronald "Boo" Heitzenrater, Jason and Shawn Chesley, Johnathan and Joann Cappella, Ryan Chesley and Chrissy Noerr; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Roxie Doty of Rochester Mills.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Missy (Noerr) Goodell; and two brothers, Paul and Carl Brewer.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Allan Opper.

Interment will follow at Marchand Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Chesley's memory to DRMC Hospice, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
