Gerald "Jerry" Edward Battaglia, 71

Gerald "Jerry" Edward Battaglia, 71, of Brookville, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Scenery Hill Manor in Indiana.

Born Oct. 12, 1942, in Brookville, he was a son of the late Edward Dominick and Josephine Frances (Cesario) Battaglia.

Mr. Battaglia was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

"Jerry" was co-owner of the former of Jerry's Pizza Shop in Brookville.

He was a member of the Brookville Eagles No. 983, and a former social member of Brookville and Pine Creek fire companies.

Jerry was a well-known character in the downtown area of Brookville.

He is survived by one brother, Ronald A. (Joan) Battaglia; and two sisters, Mary Jude Trice and Rita (Gary) Kahle, all of Brookville; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews who he absolutely adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Immaculate Conception, celebrated by Father William Laska.

Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Brookville.
