Gerald Gilbert Waite, 67

Gerald Gilbert Waite, 67, Punxsutawney, formerly of Frenchville, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011.

He was born July 20, 1944, in Madera, a son of the late Orrie and Ethel Mae (Wilks) Waite.

July 25, 1964, he married the former Darlene Kay Randolph, who survives.

Mr. Waite was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Punxsutawney.

He worked as a plumber and maintenance man for the West Branch School District and Allied Mechanical in State College.

He loved his wife, children and grandchildren, and simply enjoyed being with them. He liked raising animals, deep sea fishing and drawing. He had a very artistic talent.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include three children, Katrina Latta and husband Brian of Punxsutawney, Timothy Waite of Punxsutawney, and Gina Smith of Punxsutawney and husband Allen of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Garrett Smith, David Latta, Haley and Zachary Waite; three brothers, Darrell Waite of Houtzdale, Dewayne Waite and wife Mary Ann of Clearfield, and Gary Waite and wife Joann of Lovettsville, Va.; and a sister, Karen Godown and husband James of Houtzdale.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Keith officiating.
