Georjean Brady, 71

Georjean Brady, 71, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at home.

She was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Stump Creek, a daughter of the late Fred “Barney” and Mary (Magolis) Quashnock.

On May 26, 1962, she married William C. Brady. He survives.

She was a loving wife and mother.

She enjoyed fishing with her husband, painting, arts and crafts, crocheting and her friends at the Senior Center.

Georjean was named the Jefferson County Senior Corps-RSVP top volunteer for February in 2012, by Community Action, Inc.

She was a member of the Senior Corps-RSVP since June 2001, volunteering at the Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging’s Pine Street Senior Social Center, helping with secretarial duties, taking reservations and assisting seniors.

She also helped with the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots annual Christmas campaign; the Senior Corps-RSVP Warm Hands-Warm Hearts Project; and the American Red Cross monthly fundraisers.

She also served as treasurer and floor monitor at Mahoning Towers.

When asked why she volunteered, Georjean said, “I like the people and helping others.”

In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by a daughter, Sherry Brady of Stump Creek; and two grandsons, Allan and Nicholas Zuffall, both of Reynoldsville.

At Georjean’s request, there will be no visitation.

Arrangements are entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Interment will be at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.

Memorial donations may be made in Georjean’s memory to the Senior Social Center, Pine Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
