George J. Shedlock, Jr., 78

George J. Shedlock, Jr., 78, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Moran, a son of George J. and Elizabeth (Holeva) Shedlock Sr.

He married Mary Lou (Anthony) Shedlock, who preceded him in death Jan. 25, 2005.

Mr. Shedlock was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was also a member of many lodges, including the American Legion, Eagles Lodge No. 1231, the Walston Club and Labor International Union No. 905.

A retired construction worker, Mr. Shedlock enjoyed coffee at McDonald's and fishing at Cloe Dam.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Melissa R. Dunkel and husband Douglas of Punxsutawney, and Inez L. Smallwood of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Nicole Williams of Richmond, and Chelsey E. Dunkel, Amanda P. Dunkel and Katelyn I. Dunkel, all of Punxsutawney; two great-grandchildren, Desmond and Lea Williams of Richmond; and three sisters, Helen Ferraro of Florida, Delores Faipler and husband Tony of Erie, and Eleanor McCullough of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Hriso, Madalyn Eadie, Betty Dimaria and Dorothy Ewing.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at SS.C.D. with the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggested that memorials be made to the "Good-Bye Girls" at SS.C.D.
