George Edwin Jordan, 85, State College, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born Dec. 14, 1925, in Cloe, a son of the late C. Jenks and Bertha Mae (Jacobs) Jordan.
He was the youngest of seven children and was the last of his immediate family.
Mr. Jordan attended Punxsutawney High School and married Esther Almeda Bowers June 1, 1947, with whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2010.
He was a 53-year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College; a life member of the Third Ward Hose Company of Clearfield; a life member of Clearfield Elks Lodge No. 540; a member of State College Masonic Lodge No. 700; a member of Scottish Rite Chapter, Council, Commandary and a 32nd degree member of the Consistory Valley of Altoona; Jaffa Shrine of Altoona; past president of Centre County Shrine Club; past Grand Tall Cedar of Tall Cedars of Lebanon; and past foundation trustee of M.D. Cedar Foundation.
Mr. Jordan was employed by the A&P Tea Company for 37 years â€” 25 years as meat department manager â€” and by AFLAC Insurance Company for 24 years.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two daughters, Roberta Hoffert and husband Richard of Macungie, and Karen Sandoe and husband Kenneth of Myerstown; five grandsons, Matthew D. Hoffert and wife Erin of Fairfax, Va., Andrew R. Hoffert and wife Erika of Wernersville, Adam J. Sandoe and wife Kimberly of Newmanstown, Joseph W. Sandoe of Myerstown and fiancĂ©e Corbi McGregor, and Lucas C. Sandoe of Myerstown; and two great-grandchildren, Jakob Andrew and Norah Grace Hoffert, children of Andrew and Erika Hoffert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mae Robbins, Grace Jordan, Florence Jordan and Martha Miller; and two brothers, Fred Jordan and Robert Jordan.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A Masonic service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the funeral home.
Additional visitation time will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at St. Paulâ€™s United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Dr. G. Edwin Zeiders and the Rev. Eric J. Shafer officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
