George E. Roberts, 91

George E. Roberts, 91, a guest at Jefferson Manor, formerly of Brookville, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at Jefferson Manor.

He was born March 18, 1920, a son of the late John Jacob and Minnie(Stubbelbine) Roberts.

Sept. 30, 1945, in Corsica, he married Ruth F. Carrier, who preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2006.

Mr. Roberts was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was a self-employed carpenter, a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica and a past school board member of the Clarion-Limestone School District.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting.

Surviving relatives include a son, Richard L. "Rick" Roberts and wife Judy of Brookville; two grandchildren, Ricki Light and husband John of Jonestown and Jeffrey Roberts and fianceé Dr. Hsiang Ho of Nashville, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin and Caleb Light.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren, William and Melvin Roberts; and a sister, Ireva Kurtzall.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica with the Rev. James Dietrich officiating.

Interment will be at the Roseville-Bethel Cemetery in Union Township.
