Genevieve R. Haverilla, 90

Genevieve R. Haverilla, 90, Rossiter, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born July 15, 1923, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Angelo and Daily (Coretti) Ferrara.

On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Henry J. Haverilla, who preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1988.

She was a study hall monitor at Punxsutawney High School from 1963 to 1971; she then founded the Haverilla Personal Care Home, where she continued to work until this past week.

She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Rossiter.

Genevieve was also a member of the American Legion and the Buffalo Lodge, and she was a past member of the St. Ann’s Society.

She had a love for many things, such as cooking, baking and sharing her goods with her family and friends; flowers and gardening, especially her spring tulips; but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Surviving relatives include a son, Ray D. Haverilla and wife Karen of Rossiter; two sisters, Sylvia Ferrara of Rossiter and Adela Zinzella of Rossiter; three grandchildren, Angela Gotwald and husband Eric of Rossiter, Kelli Haverilla of Rossiter and Ray Haverilla and wife Heather of Indiana; and three great-grandchildren, Logan and Sara Gotwald and Madison Haverilla.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Henry J. Haverilla, Jr; two sisters, Gloria Zemlin and Josephine Pisano; two brothers, Herman and Richard Ferrara; and an infant sister, Theresa Ferrara.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at the Church of the Resurrection, in Rossiter, with Father Timothy J. Kruthaupt officiating.

Interment will be at Church of the Resurrection Cemetery, Rossiter.
