Gayle A. Lines, 78

Gayle A. Lines, 78, DuBois, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at her home.

Born Dec. 10, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Viola M. (Madsen) Leavitt.

On Dec. 18, 1954, she married William H. Lines Sr. in DuBois. He passed away March 30, 2003.

Gayle graduated from Sandy High School in 1953. She prided herself on being a homemaker.

As a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, she enjoyed singing in the church choir.

In addition, she was a member of the Community Christian Choir, Community Church Choir and Faithful Builders Circle.

Her love of the arts extended to the Reitz Theater, where she was actively involved.

Gayle was a lifelong member of Girl Scouts.

She dedicated 70 years to the organization as a Girl Scout leader of Senior Troop 705 and was currently involved with her granddaughter’s troop (20578).

She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Gayle attended Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and was active in the Sandy Township Alumni Association.

She loved to sew clothes and doll clothes.

She valued spending time with her family and attending events of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Diane Marie (Marc) Deasey of DuBois, William H. Lines Jr. of Rockton, Gregg A. (Tabitha) Lines Sr. of DuBois, and Charles W. “Chuck” (Cyndie) Lines of DuBois; nine grandchildren, Marc Eric and Jillian R. Deasey and Jaron C., Chuckie L., Dillon C., Aaron R., Gretchen A., Gregg “Buddy” Jr., and Mackenzie G. Lines; two great-grandchildren, Gloria G. and Eliakim E. Lines; three sisters-in-law, Doris Lines, Phyllis Gilbert, and Linda Lutz; and a brother-in-law, Lynn (Yank) Lines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Arden W. Leavitt.

Friends and family will be received Saturday, April 5, 2014, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois, and Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in DuBois.

A funeral service will follow the church visitation at Mt. Zion at 3 p.m., with Pastor Kelly Schanely officiating.

Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.
