Fred Wachob, 90, Punxsutawney, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born March 6, 1922, in Brookville, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Parr) Wachob.
On Nov. 1, 1946, he married Virginia (Bennett) Wachob, who preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 301, John W. Jenks Lodge No. 534, the Jesters, Local Plumbers and Pipefitters No. 354 and the VFW.
He also was a Jaffa Shrine a past Potentate Aide and a member of the American Legion for over 60 years.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Judy Myers and husband Tom of Punxsutawney; a son, Bob Wachob and wife Ann (Whitesell) Wachob of Tionesta; five grandchildren, Laura Barr and husband Jake, Matt Wachob and wife Rachelle, Michelle Schneider and husband Jamie, Mick Wachob and fiancĂ© Beth Villar and Deana Myers and fiancĂ© Rob Aikens; two great-grandsons, Bryce and Ian Schneider; four brothers, Harry Wachob, Kearney Wachob, Max Wachob and Paul Wachob; and two sisters, Sally Kunkle and Shirley Humble.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Rodgers and Sue Collins; a brother, James âEdâ Wachob; and a nephew, Joe Russo.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Brett Swanson officiating.
Interment will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
