Frank S. Petro, 62

Frank S. Petro, 62, of Tunnelton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.

Born May 6, 1951, in Latrobe, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank and
Margaret (Bohovich) Petro.

Frank lived in the Saltsburg area all of his life and was a 1969 graduate of Saltsburg High School, where he excelled as a wrestler.

Frank started working in the mines in Tunnelton in the 70s, and worked his way up to a job with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, where he was employed as an Emergency Response and Training Specialist.

He also owned and operated Frank’s Gun & Taxidermy Shop in Tunnelton since the 70s.

Frank was a member of the F&AM Williamson Lodge No. 431 in Saltsburg, Trinity Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg, the Indiana Rod & Gun Club, Indiana County Beagle Club and the Saltsburg Fire Company.

Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his
grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis J. Petro.

Frank is survived by his wife of 10 years, Janet (Salo) Petro; sons Frank S. (Stacy) Petro, Jr. of Saltsburg and William R. “Bill” Petro of Greensburg; grandchildren Madison N. & Sara L.; siblings Ronald Neil of Spring Church, Luara (Robert) Stewart of Tunnelton and Bill (Chris) Petro of Saltsburg; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg, Pa., on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, and Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A Masonic Service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. A funeral service and Celebration of Frank’s life will take place Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Brett D. Hoover officiating.

Interment will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg.
