Francis Jerome (Jerry) Fiscus, 80, a longtime resident of Brookville, passed away peacefully at the Laurelbrooke Assisted Living Facility on Friday, May 31, 2013.
He was born June 16, 1932, in Brookville, a son of the late Steven Francis Fiscus and Lyda Louella (Walters) Fiscus.
He married Ruth Snyder Fiscus of Timblin on June 16, 1951, having a double-ring ceremony with his sister, Mary Fiscus Martz and Wendell Darl Martz.
He and Ruth were married 61 years, and she passed away on Dec. 18, 2012.
He worked for 40 years at the Sheet Metal Workers International Union Local 12 in Pittsburgh and retired in 1993.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception and St. Dominic Catholic
He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 983 in Brookville.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and old Western films.
He is survived by seven children, Karen Ann (Rick) Christy of Osage City, Kan., Francis W. "Bill" (Diane Shovestull) Fiscus of Sigel, Susan M. Field of Brookville, Alice J. (Ted) Rhea of Bells, Tenn., Jerri L. (Terry) Venable of Skiatook, Okla., Janet L. (Butch) Loy of Sigel, and Freda L. (Dane) Lance of Emlenton; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Rose Fiscus Acker of Dundas, Minn.; and two brothers, Daniel Fiscus of Brookville and Wayne Fiscus of Prescott, Ariz.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Freda Fiscus Knestaut and Mary Fiscus Martz; two brothers, David Fiscus and Bob Fiscus; his father, Steven Francis Fiscus; his mother, Lyda Walters Fiscus; and a granddaughter, Tamara S. Rhea.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville with the Rev. William Laska officiating.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Brookville.
