Francis Ardell Barnett, 85

Francis Ardell Barnett, 85, of Punxsutawney, passed away June 18, 2013, at his residence.

He was born July 13, 1927, in Jefferson County, a son of the late Jennings Clay and Margaret Elaine (Berkey) Barnett.

Francis was married to Shirley Lou (Martin) Barnett, who preceded him in death.

Francis was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Marsha Cochrane and husband Dave of
Orlando Fla., and Debra Bridge and husband Tom and Janice Bosak and husband Don, all of Punxsutawney; three sons, Howard Barnett and wife Sharon, Michael Barnett and Robert Barnett and wife Brenda, all of Punxsutawney; 10 grandchildren, Nathan Bosak and fiance Jessica Blice, Ashley Bosak, Nicholas Shiock, Ethen Barnett, Joshua Bridge and wife Beth, Matthew Bridge, David Cochrane, Dayna Ramlochan and husband Neil, Justin Barnett and Niki Barnett; six great-grandchildren, Hope, Hannah and Haley Bridge, Sage Shiock, Elise Ramlochan and Dallas Barnett; two brothers, Allen and Harvey Barnett; and a sister, Dorthy Anderson.

In addition to his parents and wife Shirley Lou, Francis was preceded in death by two brothers, Jay and Richard Barnett.

When at home, Francis could be found on his John Deere tractor farming the fields of his beloved farm, which has been in the Barnett family since the 1800s.

Friends and family will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.

Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.
