Frances Joanne (Parks) Dickey, 75, Knox Dale, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Jefferson Manor.

She was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Brookville, a daughter of the late George Andrew and Rheba Minerva (Wolfe) Park.

Dec. 22, 1955, she married Darrel Edward Dickey Jr., who preceded her in death July 2, 2004.

Mrs. Dickey attended the Knox Dale United Methodist Church, where she played the piano and organ for the past 50 years.

She owned and operated J.D. Ceramics, where she taught ceramic classes, made and sold many ceramic pieces, which included porcelain dolls. She enjoyed painting, crafts, crocheting and knitting. She loved animals, especially her two poodles and her cats.

Mrs. Dickey served on the Knox Township Election Board, the Knox Township Municipal Authority, was a former member of the Knox Township Ladies’ Auxiliary, and the Knox Dale United Methodist Ladies’ Aid.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Darla Brosius and husband Gary of Brookville; a son, Darrel Dickey and wife Valerie of Knox Dale; five grandchildren, Angela Nivala and husband Peter of Colorado, Stephanie Kammerdiener and husband Gary of Brookville, Caleb Brosius of Knox Dale, Kirsti Lindemuth and husband Dan of Knox Dale and Darrellyn Dickey of Prospect; three great-grandchildren, Brooke and Kaitlyn Kammerdiener and Lillian Nivala; a brother, James Park of Brookville; and a sister, Beverly Park of McMurray.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and an infant grandson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Les Hutchins officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Knox Dale.

Memorial donations may be made to the Knox Township Fire Company, the Knox Dale United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or to Clarion PAWS.
