BROOKVILLE â Another chapter in the appellate process of Robert Gene Rega has concluded, as Jefferson County President Judge John Foradora on Thursday denied Regaâs amended petition for Habeas Corpus Relief.
June 21, 2002, Rega was convicted of first-degree murder and various other offenses.
Upon the sentencing juryâs recommendation, the court sentenced him to death. Since that time, Rega has been housed at SCI-Greene awaiting execution.
Rega was convicted of killing night watchman Christopher Lauth at the Gateway Lodge in the Dec. 22, 2000, robbery and shooting at the lodge.
