Florence Frances Gidley, 84

Florence Frances Gidley, 84, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center, Punxsutawney.

She was born April 10, 1926, in Alexandria, Va., a daughter of the late Russell Lyle and Ida Ketuma (Rochester) Linthicum.

Mrs. Gidley was married to Donald Gidley, who preceded her in death.

She was a Jehovah’s Witness and an active volunteer at Punxsutawney Area Hospital and Mulberry Square.

Surviving relatives include two sons, John Friend of Alabama and Jerry Friend of West Virginia; and four daughters, Linda Keefe of Azusa, Calif., Pamela Friend of Christopher, Ill., Vickie Helms of Elyria, Ohio, and Debra Layton of Iowa.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Friend.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.

All services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
