CRAWFORDTOWN — There is still no determined cause as to what started the fire that destroyed a camp at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at 44 Crawfordtown Rd. in Crawfordtown, Young Township.

"The structure was fully involved and was a huge fireball when firefighters arrived on scene," said Bryan Smith, Punxsutawney Fire
Department chief.

Smith said firefighters got a good hit on the fire and were able to knock the flames down in quick succession.

"Considering that Elk Run had to back Engine 30 up the Strano Drive hill where the camp was located, they did a good job in knocking the flames down," he said.

Smith said State Police Fire Marshal Greg Agosti investigated whether or not the fire was started by a lightning strike.

Smith said the investigation into the origin of the fire is continuing.

He said it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
