Fezell edged by Walbeck, dropped by Indiana Sox

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Last Saturday, the Fezell Enterprises Indiana Youth County League team dropped a close game to Walbeck, 7-5.

Walbeck led 4-0, but Fezell battled back to cut the lead to one run before a three-run inning put Walbeck comfortably ahead — a lead it would hold throughout the remainder of the game.

Joey DiPietro and Keeston Perry led the Punxsy offense with two hits apiece.

DiPietro added an RBI, and one of Perry's hits was a double.

Lucas Ambler also went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Kevin Hutton added an RBI walk for the visiting team.

Perry was charged with the loss, throwing four-plus innings and allowing six runs despite just three hits against him. He walked six and struck out seven.

DiPietro wrapped up the game for Punxsy with two innings of one-run, one-hit work.

The night before the loss to Walbeck, Punxsy fell 11-1 in five innings to the Indiana Sox, who were benefited by a Zach Schultz triple and a Kevin Jack double.

Cole Shaffer pitched four solid innings for the winning squad, allowing just one run on two hits and five walks and fanning two. Chase Kromer closed the game out for the home team.

Graham, Ambler and DiPietro pitched for Punxsy, and Graham was charged with the loss, allowing five runs on three hits and six walks.

Fezell will be back in action tonight when it hosts Clymer in a 6 p.m. start.
