Faye E. Martz, 97

Faye E. Martz, 97, Ringgold, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at McKinley Health Center, Brookville.

She was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Ringgold, a daughter of the late Edith (Stewart) and Ralph R. Young, Sr.

On May 17, 1939, she married James E. Martz. They were married for 72 wonderful years. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2013.

She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Ringgold, and also the PASR, AAUW and the LCW.

Faye was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1934, Indiana State College in 1936, and she obtained her master’s from Clarion State College.

She taught elementary school for 36 years, many in one-room schoolhouses.

She was a much-loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed gardening and embroidery.

She traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe and spent many winters in Ft. Myers, Fla.

She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Barbara and husband Anthony “Augie” Augustino of Wexford, Pa.; a son-in-law, Tom Edwards;
four grandchildren, A.J. Augustino and wife Laura, Jeff Edwards and wife Margaret, Jason Augustino and wife Adrienne and Ciara Regan and husband Keith; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacob Edwards, Nicholas and Nathan Augustino, Lillian and Emma Augustino and Mitchell Regan.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Edwards; three sisters, Thelma Caylor, Mildred Graham and Elsie Young; three brothers, Harold, Stewart and Ralph “Bill” Young; and a grandson, Chris Edwards.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Arlene Schweitzer officiating.

Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Ringgold.
