Familiar Faces Friday! Tom Chelgren

October 17, 2013

Tom Chelgren

(Editor’s note: This piece is one in a series of “Familiar Faces Friday” features to be written by Spirit reporter Destiny Pifer. The point of the project will be to highlight a member of the community who may be recognizable to many and tell his or her story. Today’s familiar face is Tom Chelgren.)

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Tom Chelgren is a recognizable face around town. He may be most recognizable as a former sergeant for the Pennsylvania State Police, or perhaps, you have seen him throughout the community involved in one of his many activities.

Born and raised in Punxsutawney, Chelgren attended both Punxsutawney Area High School and Jeff Tech.

He graduated from both in 1974, earning a diploma from Jeff Tech in electronics.
