(Editor’s note: This piece is one in a series of “Familiar Faces Friday” features to be written by Spirit reporter Destiny Pifer. The point of the project will be to highlight a member of the community who may be recognizable to many and tell his or her story. Today’s familiar face is Mary Mack.)

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Mary Mack is a recognizable face. You may recognize her as a former teacher in the Punxsutawney Area School District, or perhaps you have seen her participating in events throughout the community.

Born and raised in Punxsutawney, Mack is a 1969 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

After graduation she attended the IUP-Punxsy Campus, then moved on to the main campus in Indiana, where she graduated with a teaching degree.
After receiving her teaching degree, Mack began substituting in the Punxsutawney Area School District.
