Falls Creek man, 27, dies in wreck

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP — A 27-year-old Falls Creek man died following a crash that occurred at 10:23 p.m. Sunday along Reynoldsville Falls Creek Road in Winslow Township, according to DuBois-based Pennsylvania State Police.

Mark A. Ferko was ejected through the front driver's side window of the 2004 Dodge Neon he was driving, police reported.

Ferko had been traveling northbound on the road and was negotiating a slight left curve when, for unknown reasons, his car began rotating clockwise and crossed the white fog line and northbound shoulder.

The car continued to travel north down an embankment and crossed a drainage ditch before impacting the side of the ditch with the left front.

The Dodge then became airborne, impacting a large tree with the left front while in flight.

At that point, Ferko was ejected from the vehicle and was thrown approximately 30 feet north, police reported.

The car rotated clockwise approximately 180 degrees after impacting the tree, coming to final rest facing a northern direction.

Police said Ferko was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Reynoldsville Ambulance and the Reynoldsville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
