Eunice S. Miller, 97

Eunice S. Miller, 97, Mahaffey, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Mahoning Riverside Manor, Punxsutawney.

She was born Dec. 19, 1912, in Westover, a daughter of the late William L. and Martha (Rainey) Smith.

Mrs. Miller was married to Dr. D. Edgar Miller, who preceded her in death Dec. 21, 1990.

She assisted her husband, who practiced dentistry in Mahaffey, by scheduling appointments and assisted him in dental exams of students in the various school districts.

Mrs. Miller was very active in the Eastern Star; a member of the First United Methodist Church, Punxsutawney; directed the church choir in Mahaffey; and played piano and organ.

She was active in her church and a mission supporter; and traveled to many countries in the world, either through the mission association or with her husband with the organization of Flying Dentists.

She enjoyed having fun with her family, and they will miss her wit.

Surviving relatives include two sons, David Eddie Miller and wife Verla of Mahaffey, and Dr. Culver W. Miller, DDS, and wife Janet of Forrest, Va.; three daughters, Gayle Stewart of Lebanon, Ellon Moore of Covington, and Esther Chapman and husband Dan of Shelocta; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Karl Miller; three sisters, Bess Markle, Ethel Dunbar and Eileen Patrick; and four brothers, Francis, Wray, Clair and Claude Smith.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Punxsutawney, with Pastor Jim Pond officiating.

Interment will be at Crown Crest Cemetery, Clearfield.

The family has suggested that memorials be sent to the Deeley Funeral Home, 33 Hillcrest Drive, Punxsutawney.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
