Eugene “Gene” Ermond Stear, 64

Eugene “Gene” Ermond Stear, 64, Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Ermond and Ellen Bair Stear.

He married Peg L. Hinderliter Stear in 1972. She preceded him in death in 1997.

Eugene is survived by a brother, Gary Stear and wife Donna of Ringgold; a nephew, Kevin Brestovich of Punxsutawney; and two nieces, Kim Stello of DuBois and Crystal Heckman of Punxsutawney.

He was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a member of the Grange Church of God.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he was a beekeeper for many years.

Friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at The Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Janis Bracken officiating.

Interment will follow in Round Top Cemetery.
