Ethel Claire Dinger, 82

Claire Dinger, 82, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at home.

She was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Coolspring, a daughter of the late Mervin and Ethel (Doverspike) Straitiff.

On Oct. 14, 1948, she married Carl Ervin Dinger, who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1994.

Mrs. Dinger was an active member of the Frostburg Methodist Church.

She was also a member of the Punxsutawney Garden Club and a Quilting Club.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and several card clubs.

Surviving relatives include three children, Dennis E. Dinger and wife Bea of Punxsutawney, Karen E. White and husband Butch of Punxsutawney, and Kathy A. Esposito and husband Mike of Winston Salem, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Brent and Matthew Dinger, Jill Biskup, Jonathan and Jeremy Frederick, Danette Shaffer, Deneen Evans and Marci McElhaney; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Ella Claire Biskup and Lexi and Liam Frederick; a brother, Wilbert Straitiff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Jean White and Betty Lou Schwab.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at the Frostburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Young officiating.

Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.

Memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated and may be made in Mrs. Dinger’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
