Esther M. Battaglia, 85, Brookville, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at Jefferson Manor.

She was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Big Soldier, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Matthew and Esther M. (Laverick) Leiberton.

Nov. 6, 1947, she married Pat Battaglia, who preceded her in death in 1979.

Mrs. Battaglia was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Max Battaglia and wife Hazel of Fairfield, Calif., and Dennis Battaglia and wife Gwen of Brookville; and three daughters, Deborah Sommer and husband Jud of Bethesda, Md., Vicki McCracken and husband Steve of Brookville, and Rosemary Wonderling and husband David "Chip" of Brookville.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Mick Chittester.

Interment will be in Reynoldsville Cemetery.
