Erda H. Simons, 95

Erda H. Simons, 95, New Kensington, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, in Natrona Heights. 

She was born Feb. 12, 1916, in New Kensington, a daughter of the late Cletus and Effie (Winand) Scholze. 

She was married to Coy Lingenfelter, who preceded her in death June 10, 1941. She then married John E. Simons, who preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1972.

Mrs. Simons worked as an operator for Bell Telephone, a switch board operator for Alcoa, Miller Brothers Shoe Store, Gaylord’s Department Store and the YMCA, all in New Kensington. 

Along with her husband John, she managed the former Donaher Funeral Home in Arnold. 

Mrs. Simons was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in New Kensington; the Christian Mothers of the Church; Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 860, in which she was a past grand regent; and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, New Kensington. 

She enjoyed shopping, dining out and word search puzzles. 

Surviving relatives include by two daughters, Erda Carol Overly and husband James of Punxsutawney, and Suzann Simons, with whom she lived; six grandchildren, Mary Beth Bosak and husband Richard, J.R. Overly and wife Ellen, Deborah George and husband Mark, William Overly and Jennifer Wachob, Donald Overly and Louis Mitchell, and Patti Dinsmore and husband Bob; seven great-grandchildren, Erin McKinney and husband David, Amber Vrobel and husband David, A.J. Overly and wife Amanda, Becky Wachob and fiance Kasey Ferguson, James Overly and fiancee Chelsey Smith, Chelsea Bosak, and Jeffrey Overly; and two friends, Loretta Fabry of Lower Burrell and Marilyn Alcantara Peckham of Sun City West, Ariz. 

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a sisters, Gladys Scholze, Nov. 1, 1968; and a brother in infancy.  

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home Inc., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights.

The CDA and the Christian Mothers will hold a service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the funeral home.

A blessing service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2011, at St. Joseph Church. 

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
