Emogene Defelice, 86

Emogene Defelice, 86, of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the home of her daughter Lillian, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Defelice was born April 12, 1926, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Blair and Erma (Lewis) Sloniger.

She was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Yates" Defelice.

Emogene enjoyed bingo and taking trips to the casino and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by four sons, Pasquale "Butch" Defelice, Joseph Defelice Jr. and wife Ruth, Anthony Defelice and wife Dawn Ellen, and Michael Defelice and wife Donna, all of Punxsutawney; eight daughters, Rose Handyside and husband Jim of Punxsutawney, Patricia Ann Benninger and husband Bill of Brockport, Michelle "Peanut" Dobson of Rochester, Delores Defelice of Punxsutawney, Maryann Lewis and husband Ramey of North Carolina, and Diane Powell and husband Keith, Susan Gomola and husband Jerry, and Lillian Cameron and husband Bret, all of Punxsutawney; a brother, Donald Sloniger of Reynoldsville; a sister, Joann Worrell and husband Dick of Cheswick; 31 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Sloniger; and an infant granddaughter and infant grandson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Defelice's name to the
Lindsay Fire Company, Punxsutawney Memorial Library, VNA Hospice or Juvenile Diabetes Association.
