Emma Lester Hetrick, 96

Emma Lester Hetrick, 96, Punxsutawney, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born Oct. 9, 1915, in Anita, a daughter of the late Philip and Clara (Humm) Lester.

July 25, 1947, she married Fred A. Hetrick, who preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1980.

She lived all her married life in New Bethlehem.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Punxsutawney and was an avid quilter.

Surviving relatives include two step-granddaughters, one step-grandson, one step-daughter-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Jean Lester, Helen Thompson, Ruth London and Irene Anderson; a brother, John Lester; a step-son Kenneth Hetrick; a step-daughter, Phyllis Swanson; and a step-grandson, Robert Hetrick.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 10, 2012, with Pastor Mary Lewis officiating.

Interment will be at Anita Community Cemetery.
