Elva I. Martino, 83, Walston, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at home.

She was born July 26, 1928, in Grange, a daughter of the late A. Merle and Elsie (Powell) Bush.

Oct. 29, 1946, she married James A. Martino, who preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2006.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church of Walston.
She was a good wife and a good mother.

She worked for Loree Footwear and the Punxsutawney Area School District
Surviving relatives include five children, Joseph Martino and wife Freda of Walston; Mary Ann Griffin and husband Robert of Indiana, Rosalee Hall and husband James, John Martino and wife Karen and Anna Marie Conrad and husband David, all of Punxsutawney; a brother, Robert Cloy Bush and wife Marge of Grange; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters; a brother; and a great-grandchild.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Walston with the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Martino’s memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
