Ellsworth Carl McCoy, 72

Ellsworth Carl McCoy, 72, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Clarion Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1939, in Marion Center, a son of the late Howard S. and Naomi Kathryn (Jeffries) McCoy.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the medical corps.

Mr. McCoy enjoyed walking, gardening, reading and watching western movies on television. He was charitable to many organizations.

He was a member of the American Legion in Punxsutawney.

Surviving relatives include two brothers, Robert McCoy and Ronald McCoy, both of Punxsutawney; four sisters, NoraBelle McDougal, Ruth Keifer and Jane Chapman, all of Ohio, and Olive Akley of Sharon; three step-sisters, Mary Ann Pierce of Sharon, Bertha Mumau of Michigan and Shirley Conrad of Rossiter; and five step-brothers, Forrest Travis of Washington, Rodney Travis of Texas, Mac Travis of Florida, Charles Travis of Sharon and Robert Travis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Eugene and Roger McCoy; three sisters, Betty McDougal, Sarah Leksell and Esther Tyger; two step-brothers, Noland and Ord Travis; and a step-sister, Pearl Grove.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.
