Ellen Marie Stear, 85, Punxsutawney, died  Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at DuBois Regional Medical Center, DuBois.

She was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late Gourley S. and Hazel A. (Vanderpool)  Bair.

She was married to Ermond L. Stear, who preceded her in death Jan. 21, 2004.

A homemaker, Mrs. Stear was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church of Juneau.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Darlene Borts and husband Lee of Wellsboro; two sons, Eugene Stear of Punxsutawney and Gary Stear and wife Donna of Ringgold; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy Bowser officiating.

Interment will be at Roundtop Cemetery in Trade City.

The family requests that donations in memory of Mrs. Stear be made to the Women's Shelter of Punxsutawney, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
