Ellen J. Strouse, 77

Ellen J. Strouse, 77, of West Weber Avenue, DuBois, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 8, 1935, in Soldier, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Martina (Sloan) Leiberton.

On Aug. 3, 1963, in Reynoldsville, she married Paul P. “Hawkey” Strouse. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Mrs. Strouse worked for Shop-n-Save for 10 years and the Litts Club for 20 years.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, where she was one of the original members of the Ladies of Saint Joseph.

She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their many activities.

Surviving relatives include her children, Jim Strouse and wife Deneise of Sykesville, Chuck Strouse and wife Lori of Brockway, Joseph Strouse and wife Brenda of Clearfield, Theresa Landini and husband Gary of Saxonburg, Pa., Denise Borland and husband Robin of Rew, Pa., and Juliana Strouse and partner Lynn Keith of DuBois; a brother, William Leiberton of Punxsutawney; three sisters, Carol Ishman, Rita Leiberton and Roberta Kurten, all of Reynoldsville; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be placed with the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 25 Robinson St., DuBois, PA 15801.
