Elizabeth S. Stewart, 81

Elizabeth S. Stewart, 81, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, in Brookville.

She was born July 7, 1930, in Brockway, a daughter of the late Everett and Lorena (Winters) Sibley.

Jan. 28, 1950, she married William W. Berfield, who preceded her in death in 1969.

March 4, 1972, she married Howard Earl Stewart, who preceded her in death June 23, 1984.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Stewart was employed by Means Brothers Construction and the Punxsutawney Area Hospital as an accountant.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, traveling and country music.

Surviving relatives include a son, Steve Berfield and wife Marci of Ohl; a daughter, Kathy Renne and husband Joe of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Lisa Weyandt and fiancé Jeremy Ruffner, Brett Berfield and wife Shari, and Matthew Berfield and fiancé Autumn Shirey; a step-grandchild, Michael Renne; three sisters, Cheryl McMinn of Florida, and Marcia Allessie and Mary Constantino, both of Punxsutawney; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends Jeff and Vicki Martino.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Sibley and Ronnie Sibley; and two sisters, Jean Wise and Marilyn Carlton.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, with Pastor Roger Howard officiating.

Interment will be at Circle Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Stewart’s name to the American Cancer Society or to the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
