Elizabeth M. Daughenbaugh, 91, Frostburg, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Mulberry Square & Elder Care Rehabilitation Center, Punxsutawney
She was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Frostburg, a daughter of the late Clyde and Minnie (Newbold) Means.

Feb. 12, 1944, she married Walter G. Daughenbaugh, who preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2007.

Mrs. Daughenbaugh spent the early years of her married life in Monument, before moving to Punxsutawney in 1949.

She was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Frostburg, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and director of the children's choir.  She was also a member of the Frostburg Women's Society and the Punxsutawney Garden Club.

She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at the Adrian Hospital and the DuBois Hospital and also maintained the family farm with her husband. She was also a lab and X-ray technician.
 
She performed with the Sweet Adelines, loved singing and playing musical instruments, drawing, reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Libby Hoover and husband Robert of Punxsutawney and Jane Murphy and husband Paul of Winchester, Va.; two sons, John Daughenbaugh and wife Marsha of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and David Daughenbaugh of Punxsutawney; two sisters, Ruth Bixler of Green Valley, Ariz., and Meredith Means of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marian Means and Ellen Means; and a brother, Robert Means.
At the family’s request, there will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Frostburg, with Pastor Bill Young Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.

Arrangements are under the care of the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

Donations in Mrs. Daughenbaugh’s name may be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Church or the Frostburg Community Center.
