Elizabeth Bonfanti, 87

Elizabeth Bonfanti, 87, Punxsutawney, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Patty Calabria and Margaret (Saporito) Calabria.

She was married to Anthony “Nino” Bonfanti, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bonfanti loved cooking, baking and homemaking. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Anthoany Bonfanti, Pat Bonfanti and wife Mary Lou, all of Texas, and Bill Bonfanti and wife Susan of Florida; two daughters; Marge Frantz and husband John of Punxsutawney, and Nena Heath of Missouri; a brother, Patrick Calabria and wife Dorothy of Florida; two sisters, Ann Hodgkinson, and Rita Ragone and husband Vincent, all of New York; 16 grandchildren; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Brauer; and two brothers, Phillip and Daniel Calabria.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
